I wanted to continue the Christmas festivities. I got a great idea to make Guess What? free today. I went to the iPhone Developer site to login to iTunes Connect, the happening spot for an iPhone app developer. I cringed as the page quickly loaded (usually it takes FOREVER) with a simple image and an even simpler message.

“iTunes Connect is closed for the holidays.
Please come back when we reopen on December 28th.”

A website closed for the holidays? Really? I can understand if they were to post a message to note they will not be working until the 28th. I am more than fine knowing that my app updates won’t be randomly rejected until after the holidays, but closing the entire backend? Are they really that regulation-crazy that there is some fear about what people would do while Apple is on vacation? You really can’t do too much besides change some descriptions and prices, etc; Perhaps they were afraid of developers putting in some dirty words while Johnny Newipod McOwner logged into the app store for the first time, but that’s a little crazy.

Not only can I not go and set my game to be free for a day, but I’m locked out of my sales until the 28th. Ouch. I usually check my stats every day, but I’ve been slacking because of the holidays. Now that I’ve had time and remembered to do it, I cannot. Of course, now I want it more than ever. (As a side note, I use appFigures to track stats. I recommend it highly.)

Sigh.
